With ‘Innovation to Serve Better’ commitment, PT Pertamina Lubricants have undertaken changes and transformation to keep pace with swiftly changing market and technological advances.
Since its inception as a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) in 2013, PT Pertamina Lubricants has been able to maintain its domestic market leadership position with an estimated market share of 58% for automotive retail and industrial lubricants and has expanded its global operations in 17 countries, including the established Pertamina Lubricants (Thailand), Co., Ltd subsidiary and Representative Office in Australia.

“Amidst global economic uncertainty and Covid-19 pandemic, PT Pertamina Lubricants, through its programs, innovation, and business transformation, is optimistic to speed ahead in 2020. We have built strong business foundations and fundamentals to continue competing and growing,” said PT Pertamina Lubricants President Director Ageng Giriyono.
Ageng emphasized that PT Pertamina Lubricants is supported by robust human resources capital, technology, knowledge, production facilities, and R&D. The company has three production facilities in Indonesia i.e. Production Units in Jakarta, Cilacap, and Gresik with a capacity of 535,000 KL/year to meet domestic lubricants demand. All facilities have undergone modernization and are equipped with state of the art technology and each has its lubricant testing laboratories. Furthermore, the Jakarta Production Unit, the largest integrated lubricant production facility in South East Asia, is now equipped with Lube Oil Blending Plant (LOBP), VM Plant, and Grease Plant.
“Apart from strong production capacity, we guarantee the availability of Pertamina Lubricant products through our 24 Depot Supply Points, 7 Sales Regions, and with more than 160 distributors, 2,000 Olimart and Enduro Express outlets, Pertamina's Pertashop and gas stations network throughout Indonesia,” added Ageng Giriyono.
PT Pertamina Lubricants is currently applying End-to-End Digitalization process for various production, distribution, and marketing processes to strengthen its market positioning in line with the development and industrial revolution 4.0.
Product Innovation and Services
Pertamina Lubricants has been playing an active role in product innovation to keep pace with current and future market developments. Products are produced according to international quality and have approvals from global engine manufacturers.
“Currently our products are in the lead in meeting all market demands, both in the automotive and industrial sectors. In the future, we have to monitor new business potentials, implement breakthroughs and innovations following global trends. We will also continue supporting government programs in biodiesel fuel by introducing Meditran SX Bio lube, special lubricants to support the use of environmentally friendly biodiesel,” added Ageng.
Apart from that, PT Pertamina Lubricants have also developed various product innovations such as Food Grade Lubricants for the food and beverage industry, Fastron Platinum Racing in collaboration as Technical Partner with Lamborghini Automobili, and the latest, Enduro 4T Racing with a new 0.8 Liter packaging.
The 0.8 Liter Enduro 4T Racing new packaging is a product innovation to meet Indonesian consumers’ demand for more affordable motorcycle lubricants, suitable for their motorcycle specifications, which offers the best option especially amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
PT Pertamina Lubricants has also implemented an innovative program i.e. Pertamina Lubricants Home Services (PHLS) to provide services to consumers and the public, in response to the strict instructions to implement Covid-19 protocol discipline in providing services and changing engine oil of vehicles from home.

R&D and optimum aftersales service constitute key support to product innovations. Ranging from Research and Development technology to aftersales services technology and customer education center through ILMA (Integrated Lubrication Management Academy) to Product Development (Bench & Engine Test) to support the selection of applied additive technology and develop the most suitable lubricant product formulation (Product Development) and Oil Clinic.
Commitment to HSSE and the Public during the Pandemic
To commemorate the 7th anniversary, PT Pertamina Lubricants have also conducted social activities and various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs in all Sales Regions and Production Units particularly to help communities thrive despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
Some of the programs include support for education information technological appliances for Special Needs School and foster homes in Cilacap and Jakarta, support for data package and BBK (special fuel) voucher in Balikpapan, support for distribution of staple needs, and regrow and conventional planting training assistance for foster homes in Makassar, mechanics training and provision of working capital support for auto repair shops to the People with Disability Motor Community in Semarang, training and mechanics package to the People with Different Ability in Bantul, support for developments of Enduro Express repair shops and home services in Balikpapan prisons, support for religious worship facilities and handwashing stations at the education center in Medan, and support for distribution of staple needs and financial assistance to foster homes in Binjai North Sumatera and financial assistance to orphans and the poor in Gresik area.
